As you might have experienced, you are no longer able to add a Facebook cover video to your Facebook page. If you previously had a cover video on your Facebook page, it has been switched to a thumbnail of that cover video.
In this Facebook page setup tutorial, we are going to show you two ways how you can
Can’t add a cover video to Facebook page
You are not alone. In 2021, Facebook has removed the option to upload a cover video to your Facebook page. There isn’t any information online on what was the reasons for this.
Currently, we can’t really know either if it was a permanent decision or they might bring back the cover video feature in the future
If you have previously uploaded a Facebook cover video to your Facebook page, then you should remove it. This is because Facebook has transformed Facebook page cover videos to images so there is 99% chance that the thumbnail of the video doesn’t look good as a cover photo.
What can you do instead of a Facebook cover video?
Although you will not be able to add a cover video to your Facebook page, there are two alternative features that you can leverage:
- Facebook Cover Slideshow
- Facebook Spotlight Featured videos
Facebook cover slideshow
You can’t upload a Facebook cover video on your Facebook page, however, you can create a Facebook cover slideshow that can be still engaging for the user and enables you to communicate multiple messages on your Facebook page.
If you want to know more about the Facebook cover slideshow, check out this tutorial:

Spotlight video panel on the Facebook page
The second option is to add a Facebook spotlight video panel to your Facebook page. These videos will show up on the top of your Facebook page, so they can still be visible to the majority of the Facebook page visitors.
I have a separate tutorial, where I explain how to add spotlight videos to your Facebook page:

- Open the Facebook page
- Click on the ‘Edit’ button on the Cover photo.
- Select ‘Upload Video’.
- Upload the video from your computer.
