How does post approval work in a Facebook group?
If you are admin in a Facebook group, you can approve all Facebook group posts before they get published.
This is the easiest and most effective way to moderate a Facebook group and avoid a Facebook group gettings spammed.
The Facebook group post approval can either be done manually as we will show above, or you can also create Group Admin Assist rules to automatically approve Facebook posts or comments.
How to turn on Facebook group post approval?
Here is how to turn on Facebook group approval:
- Open the Facebook group.
- Click on ‘Settings’ on the left column
- Scroll down to the ‘Manage Discussions’ section.
- Click on the pencil next to ‘Approve All Member Posts’
- Select ‘On’.
- Click ‘Save’
Now, only Facebook group moderators or admins can post without approval. Regular members have to wait for the admins to get their Facebook posts approved before it gets published.
Can’t turn on Facebook group post approval
If you can’t turn on Facebook group post approval, you most likely don’t have the right access level to do so.
Only Facebook group admins can turn on post approval in a Facebook group. If you are a moderator you can’t turn on this group feature on, you can only approve posts if the feature has been enabled by an admin.
How to approve or decline Facebook group posts?
Once Facebook post approval has been turned on, you have to approval all member posts from now.
Here is how to approve or decline a Facebook group post:
- Open the Facebook group
- Click on ‘Pending posts’ under the ‘Moderation’ section.
- Click on ‘Decline’ or ‘Approve’
If you wish, you can also add a feedback, why you might have declined a Facebook group post and you have the option to reject multiple Facebook group posts at once.
How to turn off Facebook group post approval?
Here is how to turn on Facebook group approval:
- Open the Facebook group.
- Click on ‘Settings’ on the left column
- Scroll down to the ‘Manage Discussions’ section.
- Click on the pencil next to ‘Approve All Member Posts’
- Select ‘On’.
- Click ‘Save’

If you want to prevent people from spamming after they have created their post, you can also choose to enable approval for editing of Facebook group posts.

If you see that a post hasn’t been published in a Facebook group, it means that your post is pending and you have to wait for a moderator or an admin to approve your Facebook posts. You will get a notification if it the post has been declined.
How to restrict Facebook group posts?
If you want to restrict Facebook group posts, you can turn on automatic or manual Facebook group post approval. If you want to completely pause new group posts, you can also turn off posting for regular members.
