Many businesses have a Facebook page that they use for branding, marketing and connecting with their audience and customers.
One of the most important aspects of managing these pages is being active on them – but how do you share content if you as the admin don’t have the time? The answer is to add a Facebook page editor as we show in this Facebook page tutorial.

How to add a Facebook page editor to your Facebook page?
Here is how to add an editor to a Facebook page:
- Open up the Facebook page that you want to add the Facebook page editor to
- Click on ‘Settings’ on the left columns
- Then click on ‘Page roles’ once again in the left column.
- Here you will see a box, where you have to type the name or the email of the person who you would like to add as a Facebook page editor.
- In the dropdown choose the role ‘Editor’
- Click on ‘Add’
- You might have to confirm your password so Facebook knows that you are really the admin of the Facebook page.
I Can’t add a Facebook page editor
If you try to go through the process that we have outlined above and you find that you can’t make someone the editor of the Facebook page, here are some of the most frequent explanations for that:
- You are not an admin on the Facebook page: Only admins can invite others to the Facebook page and can assign roles to people. If you are not the Facebook page admin, read here how you can request Facebook page admin rights. The second option is to ask the Facebook page admin to add the person as Facebook page editor
- The person is not on Facebook or uses another email for his Facebook. In this case, contact the person and ask for his email or ask him to sign up for Facebook if he really wants to be a Facebook page editor.
What Facebook page editors can do on a Facebook page?
Before you would add someone as an editor to the Facebook page, it is important to keep in mind what a Facebook page editor can do on the FB page. Here are some of these tasks:
- Edit the Facebook Page and add apps
- create, delete and edit Facebook posts
- send messages as the page
- make Facebook posts ads
- respond to comments or delete them
- ban people from the Facebook page
A Facebook page editor can basically do just as much as a Facebook page admin, except he or she can’t manage Facebook page roles, can’t change Page settings and obviously cannot delete or unpublish the Facebook page.
How to remove a Facebook page editor?
If your editor no longer works at your company or you discontinued working with a social media contractor it is really easy to remove him or her as a Facebook page editor.
Here is how to remove an editor from a Facebook page:
- Open up the Facebook page where he or she is the editor
- Click on ‘Settings’ on the left columns
- Then click on ‘Page roles’ once again in the left column.
- Here you will see all the people that have access to the Facebook page
- All you have to do is to click on the name of the person
- Here you can either change the person role to something lower
- Or you can click on the ‘Remove’ link on the bottom left and remove the editor from the Facebook page completely.
