Here is how to report a fake Facebook page review:
- Open the Facebook page.
- Click on the Reviews tab.
- Search for the recommendation you want to remove.
- Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the recommendation post.
- Click on ‘Find support or report recommendation’
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
When will Facebook remove Facebook page recommendations?
Keep in mind that Facebook will only remove Facebook page recommendations that don’t comply with their Community Standards or reviews that have nothing to do with your business or product/service you sell.

What if Facebook support has taken a look at it, but they didn’t remove the fake Facebook page recommendation? You can then still have some options that help you mitigate the situation more or less.
Hide all Facebook page recommendations
As we said, you can still decide to turn off Facebook page reviews completely. However, in this case, all Facebook page reviews would be hidden from the Facebook page.
So if you have a lot of positive 5-star reviews and just one or two negative fake one, we wouldn’t go with this option.
Respond to the fake recommendation
The second option you have is to respond to the fake recommendation. In this case, you can highlight the reasons in your response that prove that the review is not genuine or outright fake.
Here is a template that you could use:
Hello [name of the person who left the recommendation]. Thanks for contacting us. Unfortunately, we don’t have any record of your name in our customer database. Please reach out to our customer team at [phone number] or [email address] to discuss your negative experience so we can better understand how to avoid issues like this! If you left this review in error, please consider removing it. Thank you.
With a response like this, the potential customers can regain some trust in your company.
Get more positive recommendations from your real customers
The third thing you can do is to encourage your loyal customers, your fan base to leave recommendations on your Facebook page. This will help you balance the fake negative recommendations, and your average score will also improve.
You can even come up with a nice incentive for your customers. If someone leaves a positive recommendation on your Facebook page, they get 10% off from their next purchase.
