Here is how to change a Facebook group type:
- Open the Facebook group
- Click on ‘Settings’ on the left column
- Under Customize group, look for the ‘Group type’ section
- Click on the pencil icon
- Select the Facebook group type you want to change to.
- Click on ‘Save’
Now, your Facebook group type has been changed and you can use the features that are exclusively available for your chosen group type.
Why you should change your Facebook group category?
Facebook group categories or group types can be important as you can access certain Facebook group features when you choose a specific group type.
For instance, in a Social Learning group type, group admins can create Guides in the group and track the progress of members.
In a Job Facebook group, members can create job offers easily by using a template where they can specify salary, hours and location of a specific job.

Can’t change Facebook group type
