How to turn off comments on a Facebook page post?
Currently, Facebook doesn’t provide a clear way to turn off comments on a Facebook page completely.
However, there is a workaround that can work that we are going to show you.
There is a Facebook page moderation feature called Blocked Keywords. When someone uses any of these blocked keywords in his comment, his comment gets automatically hidden. If you add the most frequent English words to the blocked keyword list, you have a good chance that the comment won’t show up for a regular Facebook user.
So to turn off the Facebook page comments:
- Open the Facebook page.
- Click on ‘Settings’ in the left column
- Under the ‘General’ tab, scroll down to ‘Page moderation’.
- Here you can add they block keywords, separated by a comma
- Or you can upload a file with the keyword list by click on ‘Upload form .csv’)
- Click on ‘Add’
- Click on ‘Save’.
Make sure to add keywords like ‘a’, ‘the’, ‘You’, ‘I’, ‘And’, ‘Following’, ‘great’ and other common English words so although people can comment under your posts it won’t be visible to the public.
You can also manually hide or delete comments as we have shown in these Facebook page tutorials:
How to turn off comments in a Facebook group?
If you want to turn off comments in a Facebook group, it is way easier to do as there is a dedicated feature just for this:
Here is how to turn off comments under a Facebook group post:
- Go to the Facebook group post
- Click on the three dots in the top right corner.
- Select ‘Turn off commenting’.
With this, Facebook group members won’t be able to comment on this Facebook group anymore.
Can’t turn off Facebook group comments under a post
If you can’t turn off Facebook group comments as you can’t see this option when you click on the three dots, it probably means you don’t have a moderator or Facebook group admin access in the group.
How to turn off comments on a Facebook profile?
Although Facebook profiles don’t have a specific feature for turning off Facebook comments under your posts and photos, you can basically turn off Facebook comments very easily.
Here is how to turn off Facebook comments on your profile:
- Go to the Facebook post or photo.
- Click on the three dots in the top right corner of the post.
- Select ‘Who can comment on your post’.
- Then select ‘Profiles and Pages you mention’.
- Click on ‘Done’
With this change, only people or pages you tag in the post will be able to comment on this post or photo.
This setting will only apply to this one particular post, so if you want to turn off Facebook comments under all of your personal Facebook posts, you have to set this up manually on each of your Facebook posts.
